iOTTINGER DESIGN 1

Innovation + Differentiation.  The real secret to success.

From a farm boy in Indiana to...

BA, Industrial Design, Purdue University
MBA, Marketing, Xavier University

and from there, Tim cut his teeth on design... Almost everything he does today relates back to the
basic design process: Situation Analysis > Identifying Problems/Opportunities > Ideation >
Refinement > and Execution.

From toys to caskets (true story), his design & marketing background includes being at industries during times of truly ground breaking new products and businesses.

• Being on the Kenner Products team of designers of products from the original Star Wars film.

• Being on the design of the original Little Tikes "Cozy Coupe".
Quoted in the WSJ, by the early 1990s the Cozy Coupe was
the best-selling car in North America, beating both Ford's Taurus
    and Honda's Accord.

• Developing the first cellular telephone for Alpine Electronics of
America, coining the term "mobile electronics", and expanding
this steller audio company into security, A/V and GPS navigation.

The Balance Company, Torrance, CA

Founder & President

Designer/Manufacturer of Trade Show and
POP (Point-of-Purchase) Displays

In 1991, Tim joined The United Group in Los Angeles, a regional powerhouse in packaging and POP (point-of-purchase) displays.

With his design and marketing background, growth happened fast especially in his preferred, higher margin businesses of display and specialty packaging. The United Group was acquired by Tenneco Packaging in 1995 and transformed into a specialty products facility of Packaging Corporation of Amercia (NYSE:PKG), notably because of the display business Tim had led as VP Sales with The United Group.

"Tim looked for opportunities where few others had gone, most notably banking at the time which was quickly transforming their community offices into retail centers. He sold $1M++ programs to First Interstate and Huntington National Bank, among other industries in apparel, automotive, consumer electronics and entertainment".

... by the 2000s and living and working in the South Bay beach cities of Los Angeles, real estate was the place to be.

Founding CMS Design in 2003, (creative marketing services), Tim delved into again, a fast changing industry redefining itself affecting brokers, agents, mortgage providers, buyers, sellers, title companies and underlying it all with work focused on marketing communications.

Working primarily with Shorewood Realtors, Shorewood became one of the largest independent brokerages in the U.S. and the largest independent brokerage in Los Angeles with over $2B in transactions and 400+ agents. Shorewood, a 45 year old company, was eventually sold in 2014.

Technology was changing everything and the least of which was speed to market. Tim's sales, marketing and design background helped implement many new changes to an agent's sales & marketing tactics.

Oh, after twenty five years in the City of Angels, back to Indiana and OTTINGER DESIGN... a new chapter. With an extensive background and experience in so many areas, Tim's focus is on the front end activities that drive sales.
